Instagram post 2246551876193691295_1285004457 February 18th is Travel Africa Day. This day, this area of the world, and especially these people are are all so extremely special to us here at Micandy. Micandy Gardens has the special honor of helping support a safehome is Karai, Kenya with the non-profit Kenya Matters. These kids cannot rely on relatives to pay for any portion of their daily living expenses, so Kenya Matters works to provides the care that they need. Kenya Matters also helps with education, investing in the individual to invest in the community of Karai. Since 2005 Micki and Andy, their son Randy, and the Micandy family have been involved in this amazing work. From stuffing envelopes and raising funds to sending a team to work and praise at the home in Kenya. So, on Travel Africa Day, pray for the current and future kids at the safe house, pray for the staff in Kenya, and the American board members working here. If you are interested in taking a trip to Kenya, the board loves to host guests on their working trips. You can contact KenyaMatters.org for other ideas of how to get involved. (P.S. Nevertheless, this is the best picture of the ice sculpture that Micandy sponsored in downtown Grand Rapids this weekend. It’s so great because there is a mom snapping a pic of her sweet kiddo who is cheesing it up for the camera. Love was in the air, and it’s obvious with this family. The annual Valentine Potluck is the last party before we get really busy for the spring, and we just wanted to take the opportunity to have a relaxing lunch.
